What is Groupnetwork?
Groupnetwork.com is a free service that allows you to create and customize a webpage for personal or group use, with the help of powerful applications such as journals, news, chatrooms, photogalleries, email lists, and more. To get more technical, Groupnetwork is a knowledge representation engine wrapped into a web community.

You can add all kinds of applications to share yourself or keep your group's members in touch; highschools use the yearbook application enabling students to create their own pages with photos from different events, groups of friends use the journal application to keep in touch.

Different front ends and "skins" for the applications are available, made for free by users that want to contribute. Programmers can use the applicationCreator to create new and innovative applications that groups may want to add to their pages. We welcome any and all contributors to the project in the application group.

How do I use Groupnetwork?
You are already using it, viewing the page of group "Groupnetwork". The links on the right and left were entered by an administrator and this particular look and feel was selected from a list of templates. (you can create your own templates as well!) Put your mouse over the icon in the top left to view groups related to Group Network. In addition to viewing other groupnetwork users and their pages, you can create your own group, choosing to have an email address@groupnetwork.com, storage space for your webpage, and you can add any of the applications. Better yet, you can create groups for your friends to keep in touch with community journals and share photos with eachother.

So come and create your very own Group Network. Use digital tools to enhance the quality of your life!

Getting Started: click "new user" above. In order to participate in the community, you'll need a user! Then you'll be shown a screen that will give you further options and help along the way into creating a page, and adding applications.

User directories have moved to http://groupnetwork.com/~username (http://groupnetwork.com/users/username has been dropped). This is to maintain consistency for search engines.

PHP will no longer be hosted except by special request. If you are a user who had been hosting a php site, you will need to email us and request access.

I have recently enabled webDav, which I'm sure you will all find much more useful than the file manager. Now you can drag and drop files/folders and so on, and you linux people prolly have some awesome webdav clients and you'll be happy that transmissions are secured over SSL. =) To setup WebDav, (when logged in) click home, click the profile app, click edit file access, and click webdav.
